"Texas's nickname pays tribute to the Lone Star flag, which was adopted after Texas became independent from Mexico in 1836. Texas was an independent republic for ten years before accepting annexation to the United States, and the flag reflects the pride and go-it-alone spirit that is still part of the Texas way of life."

This illustration embodies the passion for Texan identity through the flag's vibrant presence, and the rattlesnake symbolizes a sense of unpredictability and strength as the southern land carries much mystique in its appearance. The bottom half of the face is cut off to allow you to focus on the upper section. The man is showcased as one of the many first inhabitants of Texas who were indigineous Paleo-Indians, the next being French, Spanish, and European immigrants.
